The Lazy Painting!!

Okay! The exams are over and here I am just sitting, doing nothing at all. Have to stay home a whole month, but I am already bored just after one week. :O I switch my laptop on and play the Lazy song by Bruno Mars over and over again. Usually I get tired of listening to the same thing again and again but today I guess I am way too bored to choose another song and hit the play button. Not even a movie can cheer me up today. :(

So here’s how I spent my last week home! Lately I’ve been doing some reading, but I am forced to read extra slow coz I’ve only three books to read for the whole vacation, unfortunately I couldn’t help finish reading ‘Room’ by Emily Donoghue, and that leaves only two. Room’s great novel I should say. Normally I prefer reading thriller, mystery, adventure or fantasy. But this one felt so touching and sounds perfect for a change. Have to thank Laki!

Hmm… other than reading I’ve been doing some painting stuff. When digging up my box of paint and brushes hidden beneath a locker, it hit me that there were many things I used to do to spend my free time before I got my internet connection and entered the world of FB, Skype, chat and online movies. :(

Been away from my brushes for so long that the painting looks a little rusty. (On the second thought the whole thing’s a mess)lol :D :) oh this was meant for a pillow case btw!!! And it's still not finished! Have to put some finishing touches to it.

PS. Just got the good news that dad’s gonna take me to the book fair. tomorrow!! Yaaaayyyyy! Now I've got the beat. Boom boom clap boom dee clap dee clap!! :D;)

Fable of the porcupine

I found this little story on one of the mails forwarded to me by a friend of mine. I found it quite interesting so I thought that I must share. :)
It was the coldest winter ever. Many animals died because of the cold. The porcupines, realizing the situation, decided to group together to keep warm. This way they covered and protected themselves; but the quills of each one wounded their closest companions.
After awhile, they decided to distance themselves one from the other and they began to die, alone and frozen. So they had to make a choice, either accept the quills of their companions or die.

Wisely, they decided to go back to being together. They learned to live with the little wounds caused by the close relationship with their companions in order to receive the warmth that came from the others. This way they were able to survive.

Moral of the story:
The best relationship is not the one that brings together perfect people, but when each individual learns to live with the imperfections of others and can admire the other person's good qualities; so

LEARN TO LIVE WITH THE PRICKS IN YOUR LIFE!!! :)

I'll always remember!

'Dear Princess Kate. My name is Diamond Ann. I am six. I was named after Princess Diana. My Mommy Memory is in heaven with her. I have cancer. I spend a lot of time at the hospital. I watched you get married from my bed there. You looked pretty. I like playing Princess dress up. My favourite princess is Aurora. Who is yours? I would really like to meet you. Do you wait to meet me too? '

Little Diamond Marshall’s story is one of the most touching stories I found on the web. Last February the six year old girl was diagnosed with stage four undifferentiated sarcoma, a very rare childhood cancer that affects the body's soft connective tissues. Her mom Memory(32) died in another form of cancer four years ago and the girl was undergoing surgery and chemotherapy as treatment. As any average kid she had her dream, to meet her dream fairy princess Aurora. But with her stage of cancer she wasn’t able to pay a visit to the Disneyland.

Along with million other people she watched the wedding of the century, the wedding of Prince William and Catherine Middleton. She was looking fabulously charming that Diamond couldn’t help wondering that she was just like the princess in her dreams. The girl was yearning to meet her when her thoughts were lightened by the news of the royal couple's tour in Canada. She wrote the touching letter above to the Duchess of Cambridge hoping her dream come true. Her dad, Lyall and step mother Daniel Marshall wrote to "Children’s wish foundation" in Canada seeking a way to make her wish come true. And so did it when she was chosen to present a bouquet of flowers to the Duchess of Cambridge as she arrived in Calgary.

The overjoyed girl flung to hug the Duchess instead of passing across the bouquet much to her delight. Diamond also presented a heart-shaped trinket box, containing a friendship bracelet she had made for the Duchess herself. After her meeting with the Royal couple, Diamond said: 'She told me she liked the flowers a lot. 'She was as fancy as she looks on the TV.'

Diamond was very lucky I’d say. That’s because there are so many who suffer from cancer almost in every nook and corner of the world but only a very few of them have their wishes granted.

P.S. Here's something we Sri Lankans can contribute to: Trail - A journey by the living. For life! May be it will bring a smile to the sweet little faces of many Sri lankan Diamonds!
